What do you do if you are a guitar player and someone hands you a bass and says “let’s jam!”?

In this video lesson I will show you what to do if you want to get started on the bass, or if you turn up to a jam and the room is full of guitar players 😉

Bass guitar is a very different instrument to the electric or acoustic guitar that you are used to playing. But luckily, as a guitar player, you already have a head start on what you can do to get going on the bass guitar.

Knowing chords, and the notes on the fretboard are a great starting point to get you up and running on the bass guitar in those situations when you want to jam along on the bass guitar with other musicians.

In this video, I cover the basics of playing bass: how to find and use root notes, play octaves and 5ths, and playing in time with a guitar player.

Timing is a vital ingredient to being a good bass player, so I would highly recommend always practicing your bass playing to a metronome or backing track, or play along to your favorite records 🙂
