How To Strum Chords On The Guitar

Now that you’ve been through the lessons on holding the guitar, some basic chords to play and how to play chords cleanly, it’s time to learn how to strum a chord properly.

In this video lesson I will show you the basic mechanics of how to strum. I walk you step-by-step through the two most common and easy ways to strum on the guitar; using your fingers and using a pick (make sure you check out my video on ‘Picking A Pick’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIOfov9RC9c).

When you strum a chord, it’s really important to remember that you need to stay as relaxed as possible. In your arms, wrists and hands. It can be very easy to tense up when you are learning something new, but take a deep breath, relax your arms and strum away!

In this video I will also give you some great tips on holding the pick and how to do muted strums as well.
